Shared outcomes

There is broad agreement among stakeholders that commissioning that results in more holistic and integrated public services would bring a range of benefits most particularly for those with complex needs who have limited support from friends and family e.g. The Revolving Doors Agency in their 2010 report Towards a Shared Future highlight the particular challenges faced by young people with multiple needs, who often ‘fall through the gaps’ despite being in contact with a wide range of services.

In their report they advocate for public service reform to better meet the needs of people with multiple and complex. Amongst other things they call on commissioners to ‘identify common ground in terms of targets and priorities’ which they argue is ‘essential to maintain commitment to joint working’Collaborate CIC which supports public services to collaborate to meet complex needs call for ‘collaborative accountability frameworks across services’ and in advocating for place-based health Collaborate and NLGN have called for a shift from ‘service silos’ to ‘system outcomes’ and the implementation of ‘place based outcomes agreements’.
